Spring is in the air (somewhere…)

Another trapping season is almost at a close – we hope it was a good one for you – even if the prices are low, we hope you had a good time and enjoyed your time on your line.

Your council has been busy even during the trapping season, keeping up to date with events and planning for our Zone meeting.

The Greenstone District Trappers Council will be hosting the Zone 2b meeting this year. It will be held on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at 1:00 pm in the Longlac History Centre. For those that don’t know where this is, it is on the townsite, ¬†on the south side of the railway tracks. Head south Picnic Point Road from Highway 11, go over the tracks, turn right, then turn left at the pink house. The history centre is on your right. Feel free to contact any of your council members to get directions.

In conjunction with the Zone meeting, we will hold our Greenstone meeting immediately following the Zone meeting. This will be a change from our September meeting, as survey of our members indicated that September is a busy month and April would be better. So we will try it.

In order to make this work, we will ask that you pay for your 2018-19 membership ($15) at this meeting and you will be all paid up until next April. We really hope all members will attend and show that we support our local council (and for those that are worried about being elected or volunteered for something, don’t worry- there are no elections this time – just information sharing)!

The education topic for the meeting will be knife sharpening – come and find out how you can make your knife edge last longer and how to keep it sharp! (we will bring the band-aids). If you want to learn or have more information on another topic, please let us know and we will prepare for it.

The Geraldton Trade Show is coming up April 13-14. We will be there with our booth to provide opportunity for the public to learn more about trapping and how it is not only a heritage but a sustainable, natural activity. If you would like to volunteer your time for an hour or two that would be appreciated.

That’s it for now – see you on April 8 at 1:00 pm!!
